4TH OF JULY GREETING FROM COMMANDER THIBODEAU

Fellow Sons, AMVETS Family, and Friends,

Today our republic celebrates its 245th birthday commemorating the passage of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress in 1776. Thomas Jefferson wrote “We hold these truths to be self- evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” … The power of those words has motivated and inspired generations. In reflection these words are a testament to the vision, wisdom, and brilliance of the framers of the Constitution.

The American’s Creed notes that our nation was “…. established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice, and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.”

As you enjoy the festivities of Independence Day with family and friends, I ask that you join the Sons of AMVETS nationwide to remember in your prayers the men and women in active duty and all veterans. Their service and sacrifice maintained our liberty and has kept America the land of the free and the home of the brave.
