Owen Jackson of Athens Ohio was elected to National Sons of AMVETS Commander on August 10th at the Sons of AMVETS National Convention in Springfield, Illinois.  Owen is a life member of Sons of AMVETS Squadron 76 in Athens, Ohio. where he continues to be active. 

Mr. Jackson has over 14 years serving the organization.  He has held numerous offices at the Squadron, State, and National levels, while he ran the chairs on each level.  In 2018, Mr. Jackson was elected State Commander for the Department of Ohio.  He was elected to his first national office serving as Provost Marshal in 2019. He has served as 3rd Vice; 2nd Vice and 1st Vice Commander over the last five years.

Diana, Owen’s wife of 11 years has been by his side during most of this journey contributing to much of his success.  Owen’s father’s military service in the Korean War and his Grandfather’s service during World War II is what guided him to joining the Sons of American Veterans Organization. 

Owen has three children, Ashley, Brandon, and Peyton, who is currently active in the Juniors program of the AMVETS at State and National levels.  He is also blessed with three granddaughters. Owen and Diana are enjoying supporting their daughter Peyton, while she progresses in the AMVETS family.

Owen is the Maintenance Manager for an apartment complex close to home where he has worked for 4 years.

Owen’s favorite things to do for enjoyment are playing golf and going camping with his family.

Commander Jackson's Project:
AMVETS Family Service Center   This 35,000 square foot facility will provide housing and important services for veterans and their families experiencing homeless.  The vast majority of transnational housing segregate by gender, often separating Sons and mothers, daughters and fathers, husbands and wives.
