July 4th Commander's Message

Greetings to my fellow Sons, AMVETS family members, and friends,

The Declaration of Independence, signed in 1776, is truly one of the greatest documents in history. America is the first nation to be founded “not on ties of blood, soil, or lineage but on a set of philosophical principles”. What we share is a common idea “that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights”.

July 4, 2017 marks the 241st year of America’s independence. The last sentence of the Declaration clearly shows the courage, commitment, and dedication of the founders. “And for the support of this declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor”.

As we celebrate with our families and friends I urge everyone to remember not only the 56 original signers but the millions of veterans and active duty military men and women who also exemplify the same courage, commitment, and dedication to ensure we will continue to pass the torch of liberty and freedom to future generations.

Have a great 4th of July. May God Bless all and may God Bless the United States of America.

Sincerely,

Mark Serpis

Commander
