On Wednesday August 16th, 2017 the Sons of AMVETS  Department of Florida presented a scooter to WWII Veteran and Coldwater, MI  resident Tom Stemaly. Mr. Stemaly has ambulatory difficulties. It is hoped that the gift of a scooter will increase his mobility and thus improve his quality of life, allowing him to enjoy the freedoms he so valiantly fought for.

The Sons of AMVETS of the Department of Florida have been active with their scooter project for some fourteen years starting off giving three per year to veterans with mobility needs.  This "DIRECT TO VET" program has grown over the years to the extent that in the past few years they have crossed state borders providing needy veterans mobility units in Georgia, West Virginia, Indiana and Michigan. This past year 52 mobility units were made available to our Veterans.

Along with Tom Stomaly are L - R: USAF Vet Katy Barber - AMVETS Post 301 FL, Mr. Stemaly's daughter Judy & son Chuck, Ken Barber - National Officer Sons of AMVETS & Dept. of Florida Past Commander
