COMMANDER'S PATRIOT DAY MESSAGE

Patriot Day 4

Fellow Sons, AMVETS family members, and friends,

The importance of 9-11 is eloquently expressed in the first paragraph of our President’s statement proclaiming September 11, 2017 as Patriot Day.

“On Patriot Day, we honor the nearly 3,000 innocent lives taken from us on September 11, 2001, and all of those who so nobly aided their fellow citizens in America's time of need.  We rededicate ourselves to the ideals that define our country and unite us as one, as we commemorate all the heroes who lost their lives saving others.”

As we remember, let us also recall the nearly 7,000 servicemen and women who, since 911, have paid the ultimate price to ensure that our freedom and liberty will endure.

With each day new challenges arise. Many of our members and friends in Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee have been impacted by the catastrophic storms of Harvey and Irma. I can think of no better way to pay tribute to those we remember today than by helping our friends in our communities and the country tomorrow. Your service is the mortar that keeps us united and our country strong.

May God Bless you and may God bless America.

Sincerely,

Harold Collins

Commander
