SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM COMMANDER COLLINS

Hello fellow Sons, AMVETS family members,  and friends,

As the 2017-2018 year begins I would like to thank my fellow Sons for the honor and privilege to serve as your Sons of AMVETS National Commander. I am greatly humbled by the support from everyone.

My project for the upcoming year is Active Heroes. Active Heroes, headquartered in Louisville, KY, is a 501c3 charity with a vision to end veteran suicide. The organization helps veterans and their loved ones through physical, educational, emotional seminars, plus peer-to-peer support programs. Additionally, Active Heroes hosts nearly 500 events nationwide for military families to connect.

The Active Heroes Retreat Center, in Shepherdsville, KY, is the first retreat in America designed by military families to help military families heal! It is open to military families free of charge. Families can enjoy the designated “healing areas” for solitude or participate in numerous activities which include archery, hiking trails, agricultural training, camping, and much more.

I am very passionate when it comes to this cause and I look forward to working with Active Heroes Founder and President Troy Yocum to raise funds and awareness on their behalf.

The upcoming year will offer many opportunities for our organization and I stand proud at your side to continue our mission of “Sons Serving Veterans”. Please let me know what I can do for you.
