THANK YOU Commander Harold Collins

Led by Commander Harold Collins, National Sons of AMVETS is winding down another successful year in service to our veterans, our communities, and our country.

Over the last year Commander Harold was stumping the grassroots garnering support for his Commander’s Project “Active Heroes”. Active Heroes’ vision is to eliminate military / veteran suicide through peer mentoring, national activities, outreach programs, and resources for military heroes and their families.  This aligned with the mission of the Sons of AMVETS and Commander Collins’ ongoing Veteran Suicide 22 push-ups campaign.

From Alaska to Florida, California to Maine and all points in between, Commander Collins worked tirelessly to bring awareness to the suicide crisis amongst veterans. Starting as a member of the original “TANANA TRIO” (AMVETS PNC Jim Pidgeon, SONS PNC David T. Strittmather, & Commander Collins) the 22 Push Ups per day awareness campaign continued. Currently Commander Harold has exceeded 860 consecutive days in this effort and plans are to continue this important crusade.

Commander Harold, THANK YOU for your leadership. As an AMVETS family member, you exemplified all that is positive in our organization. Your comrades from coast to coast have been proud to be at your side as we together continued our collective mission of “SONS SERVING VETERANS”!
