2022 Commander Speigle Memorial Day Message
My fellow Sons, AMVETS Family members and friends,
As we spend time this Memorial Day with our family and friends, please take a moment to pause, reflect and honor the men and women who died fighting for liberty.
Look across the fields at Arlington National Cemetery, you will see the scale of heroism and sacrifice. All who are buried there understood their duty. All stood to protect America. All carried with them memories of a family that they hoped to keep safe by their sacrifice. Their sacrifice was great, but not in vain.
Humanitarian, educator, and former tennis player Arthur Ashe once said, "True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic. It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost, but the urge to serve others at whatever cost."
It is our duty to remember them not just today, but every day, we must never forget.
May God bless all those lost with eternal peace and may God Bless America.
Paul R. Speigle
