COMMANDER CIESLA'S MEMORIAL DAY MESSAGE

Amvets Family and Friends,
There is no other day like Memorial Day. Memorial Day beckons us to perform our civic duty. Memorial Day calls on every citizen to pause and reflect on the extraordinary sacrifice of our heroes.
Every Memorial Day is marked with solemn remembrances and ceremonies to recall the fallen of our great nation. Over 1.3 million gave their lives so that we may live in freedom and peace. In 2001, then Commandant of the Marine Corps, Marine General J. L. Jones, said: “It is our duty to never forget the patriotism, valor, and selflessness of those who have fallen in battle. It is our challenge to be worthy of their legacy. Truly, their example is the standard by which we must measure our service to America.”
On behalf of all Sons of AMVETS nationwide, I invite you to join us and a grateful nation by participating in the National Moment of Remembrance at 3:00 PM local time. As you humbly beseech our Creator to grant perpetual peace for all who made the ultimate sacrifice, please keep in your prayers all Gold Star Mothers, Spouses, and Families. There is no measure of gratitude we can offer them that will fill the emptiness left by the loss of a loved one -  but we will never forget.
