LEGISLATIVE UPDATE FOR November 17th, 2022, IS POSTED FOR YOUR REVIEW

Armed Forces Day is meant to salute the services of the US military people whose services are ongoing.

Fellow Sons, AMVETS Family, and Friends,

Commander Thibodeau’s Spring Raffle is off and running. The daily winners are determined by the Maine Lottery Evening Pick 3 number (straight). There are 2 versions - RED ticket and GREEN ticket.

As Richard Thibodeau winds down his 2nd year as Sons of AMVETS National Commander, he would like to extend his most heartfelt THANKS for everyone's support for his project to aid Help Heal Veterans.

My Fellow Sons,

At this time of year, as our States are beginning the slow process of mass vaccination and reopening of our economies and thus allowing meetings to happen, I thought I might get out ahead of one question I know I will be getting somewhat frequently over the next 3 months.

Greetings fellow Sons, AMVETS family members and friends,

On behalf of Commander Thibodeau, I would like to THANK everyone who participated in our National Winter Raffle supporting the Commander’s Project – Help Heal Veterans. Your active efforts are greatly appreciated.

Fellow Sons,

Commander Mick's Project - Gary Sinise Foundation

Fellow Sons, AMVETS Family, and Friends,

During our 40th Anniversary year I have selected the Gary Sinise Foundation (GSF) as my project. The Gary Sinise Foundation serves our nation by honoring our defenders, our veterans, our first responders, our country’s heroes, and their families, and those in need.

They accomplish their mission by creating and supporting unique programs designed to entertain, educate, inspire, strengthen, and build communities. Their R.I.S.E. program (Restoring Independence Supporting Empowerment), builds specially adapted smart homes for our most severely wounded heroes. They also provide home modifications, mobility devices, and adapted vehicles to our injured, wounded, ill, and/or aging heroes.

Another GSF program is Soaring Valor. You may find it interesting that fewer than 500,00 World War II Veterans are still with us. Through Soaring Valor, World War II veterans and their guardians are brought to New Orleans to tour The National WWII Museum built in their honor. Their experience includes entertainment, celebratory meals, and community building with their fellow heroes. Students who accompany our veterans continue their stories with a new appreciation for the sacrifices made by an entire generation, the Greatest Generation. As a Son of a World War II Marine, it is imperative that we make every attempt to honor those Veterans.

The GSF Snowball Express, serves the children and surviving spouse of fallen military heroes. GSF is committed to programming and support that holds space to honor their fallen heroes while also helping create new memories as they move forward. Since 2018, 11639 children of fallen military heroes & their surviving parent/guardian joined us for Snowball Express.

Thank you in advance for your consideration and support.

Sincerely,

Michael ‘Mick’ Ciesla - Commander
