The Christmas message is timeless. It is a day of joy, goodwill, love, peace, and wonderment. From year to year and generation to generation, it does not change. We are fortunate to live in this great country that is dedicated to liberty and freedom of expression.

Last year Sons of AMVETS National Commander Paul Speigle selected Operation Second Chance as his project. Commander Paul garnered support from Sons of AMVETS Squadrons from across the country. Additionally, the AMVETS Family, which includes AMVETS, AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary, Junior AMVETS, AMVETS Riders, plus many friends generously donated to ensure a successful effort.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Past National Commander Charles S. Kyser. Veterans Day started as Armistice Day, November 11th, because that is the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I. In 1954, this important day was changed to "Veterans Day" to celebrate and honor all Veterans who honorably served our great nation.

It is with a heavy heart to inform the membership of the passing of AMVETS Past National Commander Marion Polk on December 6, 2021. On behalf of our membership nationwide, I extend our most heartfelt condolences to his wife Beverly and the entire Polk family. Our prayers are with you during this most difficult time.

As we prepare our Thanksgiving tables, please pause a moment to thank our military for preserving our freedom to be able to enjoy such a day.

As we came together yesterday to mark the remembrance of the terrorist actions that occurred on our soil 20 years ago, we remembered the 2,977 lives lost and the more than 6,000 others that were injured. Everyone remembers where they were on that fateful day, the same as the generations that came before us remembered Pearl Harbor.

The 36th National Sons of AMVETS Convention in Greensboro, North Carolina, considering the circumstances, was a unique experience with everyone stepping up to the plate to make it a success. It is a great honor to be elected Sons of AMVETS National Commander and to be humbled with the support of my fellow Sons and AMVETS family.

The Sons of AMVETS 36th National Convention in Greensboro, North Carolina was a tremendous success.  Congratulations to Commander-Elect Paul R. Speigle from Squadron 45 in Salem, Ohio. The entire leadership team for 2021 – 2022 is listed below.

Florida Sons of AMVETS continue DIRECT-to-VET assistance through their Veteran Mobility Assistance Program (VMAP). This recent presentation was spearheaded through Sons of AMVETS Squadron 113 in Bunnell Florida.

Since 1998, the highly regarded National Sons of AMVETS have STORMED THE HILL and carried the AMVETS Legislative Priorities to each member of Congress in support of legislation that promotes and provides positive benefits to our nation’s Veterans.

Much of our more detailed work is handled by a Committee within our organization. The most prevalent of these is the National Executive Committee. Below you will find each of the Standing Committees of National Sons of AMVETS.

This memorandum comes in the wake of the National Department of the American Legion preemptively canceling their 2020 National Convention and gives some guidance regarding the holding of State Department Conventions.
